What is the deal with Kick?
Kick is the latest live streaming platform vying to dethrone Twitch.
In just a few short months, the platform is already making waves promising streamers a 95-5 subscriber revenue split (compared to Twitch’s 50-50 split) and signing contracts with popular streamers Adin Ross and GMHikaru.

While Kick is offering many reasons for streamers to switch platforms, there is an equal amount of reasons to stay away from it.
For starters, Kick is backed by crypto gambling website Stake.com. The platform already allows gambling content on its site which differs from Twitch and YouTube’s stance on that type of content.
Kick has also decided to pursue streamers with controversial history like Trainwreck, Adin Ross, and Destiny; acting as a life raft for fringe communities that butted heads with Twitch moderation.
Speaking of moderation, Kick doesn’t really have any. While promises have been made to improve Kick moderation, its less restrictive Terms of Service allows creators to stream nudity, copyrighted material, and even p*rn.
Content creators large and small are heavily divided on Kick and its big promises.
Only time will tell if Kick can claim its place among the top live streaming platforms before it runs out of money.

In a former life, I helped build the @Twitch video CDN. When I hear about Twitch challengers, I still can't help but look at how they are serving video. Today's entrant: @KickStreaming. This was an easy one: they use AWS IVS. IVS is the Twitch video system wrapped in AWS APIs.
